Chapter Four

That night, Lucas waited until he was certain his parents were asleep, and crept once more out into the darkness.

He found the girl exactly where she’d been the night before, hanging her head mournfully as she floated beside the hidden memorial.

1

“Uh… hi.” Lucas said softly, grabbing the ghost’s attention. “Please don’t leave.” He added hastily. “I just want to talk to you.”

The girl just sighed. “Oh… it’s you again.”

2

“My name’s Lucas.” The boy smiled as he gave his awkward introduction.

She continued staring at him.

“And… You’re Evelyn?” His green eyes flicked for a moment toward the white stone as he spoke.

Evelyn shrugged. “Yeah, that’s me.”

“Well it’s nice to meet you.” Lucas said happily. “What are you doing out here?”

“Just… thinking.”

“About…” He hesitated. “About what happened to you?” Lucas asked nervously.

“Kind of.”

“Oh.”

An awkward silence fell between them.

Lucas stared at the ground, unsure of what to say next. To his surprise, it was Evelyn who finally broke the silence.

“Why are you so interested in talking to me anyway?” She asked. There was no hint of sarcasm in her tone – just genuine curiosity.

3

“Well, you look kinda lonely.” He explained. “And I’m kinda lonely too. So I thought… Maybe I could help you?”

A small smile crept onto Evelyn’s lips at the boy’s words. “That’s… Actually very sweet of you.” She admitted.

5

As she spoke, Lucas watched in awe as the dull blue tint of the girl’s body and clothing slowly began lightening to a bright green.

“About last night…” Evelyn began uncomfortably, “I’m sorry for trying to scare you like that. I’m just not used to people, I guess… I mean, most of ‘em can’t even see me, I don’t think.” She shrugged. “And everyone who can… They get freaked out and leave.” The girl paused and let out a sigh. “I’ve felt like such a freak for a long time… I guess I gave up trying to be friendly a long time ago.”

6

“It’s okay.” Lucas smiled. “I think I kind of understand…” Sometimes it felt like no one could see him either. And everyone at school definitely thought he was a freak…

Evelyn returned the boy’s smile. “Thanks.”

There was a few more moments of uncomfortable silence as Evelyn looked the boy up and down for the first time. “Cool shirt.” She said, her smile widening.

7

Lucas’ eyes lit up. “Thanks! My dad got it for me last year at Llamapalooza! Have you been?”

8

The ghost laughed happily. “Yup! My parents went with me back in ’83 when it first started. Are they still holding it at that big park down in Oasis Springs?”

9

————————————————————–

Lucas stayed up nearly all night talking to Evelyn. He had only vague memories of wandering sleepily into the house with her at his side, yawning heavily as they spoke about his old home back in Oasis Springs.

10

When he awoke on the couch the next morning, he was alone.

He stretched and rubbed his eyes as he sat up, his eyes adjusting to the bright morning light. Lucas was exhausted, but he felt happier than he’d felt in a long time.

11

As he thought back to the night before, his mother’s words seemed to echo in his mind. “Things will turn around, you’ll see.” He smiled to himself. Maybe she was right…

It’s a lovely story so far 😀 I’m just worried that because my story features similar characteristic, it will look like I’m copying yours haha x

No way! No one will think you are copying 🙂 When I wrote this story, I saw that someone else had a little boy meeting a ghost as one of the story lines in their legacy, and I was initially a little worried too, but we did it in such different ways that it didn’t matter 🙂

Ghosts are fun to write about, and I am sure there will be plenty of differences between our stories (there already are many!) that no one will think that. 🙂

Even though there’s something about the visual style of the Sims 4 that rubs me the wrong way (I guess I just have to get used to it like I had to with TS3), I have to say that the ghosts look really nice! And yay for bonding time with dead people!

I love the TS4 ghosts 🙂 And I don’t blame you, it’s kind of funny, I used to really not like the TS4 graphics, honestly. But then they grew on me and I ended up loving them and now I feel kinda weird about TS3 graphics haha which I thought would never happen! I think it’s really jarring when you’re SO used to one style and then you see another!

  8. Friends can be found anywhere if we just look and try to be friendly to those we meet. Glad that Lucas is helping the lonely ghost and maybe together they can encourage each other. Great update, Citizen!

I like how you used the color of the emotions to also portray the color of the ghost.

“As she spoke, Lucas watched in awe as the dull blue tint of the girl’s body and clothing slowly began lightening to a bright green.”

Unless that wasn’t your intention. And in that case, I just made it all up. o_O

Having someone who feels similarly to you makes life a little easier. Friendship can easily spawn from one link of a feeling.

This was the sweetest and saddest line. I’m glad Lucas made a friend. Llamapalooza! That sounds like fun! Is it a TS4 thing or did you make it up? I seriously need to try TS4 when I have the money, but the problem is, I never do. Another great chapter.

Fyi, I am featuring both this story and (Para)Normal Neighborhood on my Sims Stories I Enjoy list on the sidebar on my main blog.

Hahaha I made up Llamapalooza! 🙂 I based the name off the real music festival Lollapalooza 😛 TS4 is very fun, it just doesn’t have nearly as much as the previous games do (yet!). And that’s super sweet of you to feature my stories! I appreciate it so much ❤ I am so behind on my own reading but your blog is on my list to check out too!!! 🙂

Don’t do it, Lucas!!! Don’t fall for the ghost girl. Or do it. She seems like a nice ghost. Oh gosh. I’m only beginning to see the drama you caused with your story!! Lol. Loving it so far, Citizen!
