This post was written especially for Purple Day, a day to celebrate special sims who have died in our games (or, in my case, stories!).
I kept it very short and simple. I hope you enjoy.
Warning: HUGE Dust to Dust Spoilers ahead
Hidden beneath the darkness of his ragged cowl, Death’s empty eyes took in the scene before him. Look at them… He couldn’t help but shake his head at the sight. They never seem to understand, do they? The ancient being thought to himself. Not until it’s too late…
Century after century, it was always the same – the fear, the sadness, the anger at his very existence. And these pathetic beings before him had been no different. He’d watched from the shadows for so long, eavesdropping on their conversations, and probing into their weak and simple minds…
So much prejudice.
So much ignorance.
“Death brings pain”
“Death breaks hearts.”
“Death is hateful.”
“Death is cruel.”
And perhaps it was true. Some of it, at least. That much he could not deny.
But why can’t they understand? Death often wondered. Why don’t they see that there’s so much more?
Death heals the sick and the injured.
Death brings loved ones together.
Death teaches how to move on…
And let go.
Death reunites lovers,
And old friends…
The hooded figure looked on with pride at the great gift he had given these silly mortals.
It was a thankless job, and a stressful one. But so rewarding, too… Even if it took the fools an entire lifetime to understand. Death could not help but chuckle to himself.
Death is just a part of life… He smiled. And it can be beautiful too.
